OVERVIEW

The Essentials for Rough Diamond Evaluation & 5-Day Lab offers students a comprehensive blended learning experience, combining online theory with practical, hands-on training.
This program is designed to provide foundational knowledge and practical skills in evaluating rough diamonds.
The course is structured into two parts.
The online theory component allows students to study through an online portal, featuring instructor-led videos, interactive quizzes, images, text, and booked contact sessions with lecturers.
Completion of this theoretical module is a prerequisite to advancing to the practical lab.
The second part is the 5-Day Practical Lab, conducted at our premises. Here, students apply their theoretical knowledge using a variety of natural rough diamonds and other stones. This hands-on training ensures that students gain confidence in working with real-world materials and industry-standard tools.
Students are taught to evaluate the key characteristics of rough diamonds, including their Clarity, Cut, Color, and Carat Weight.
By the end of the program, they will be able to accurately identify diamonds and assess their market value, whether for individual stones or parcels of diamonds.
This course is ideal for anyone looking to enter or advance in the diamond industry with a solid understanding of rough diamond evaluation.

The course fee is R15 200.00 ( Inclusive of VAT)

A class manual is supplied to be used for the duration of the course.

Excludes: Printed Hard Copy Manual ( A manual can be added for an additional R270.00 incl VAT )

Important information that I need to know?

You can register at any time for the Theory through our online portal.

Practical Sessions would have to be pre-booked.

ID book, driver’s License or passport is required to enter the building.

In the event that the programme is not completed within the 6 Months window after registration, a 50% re-registration will be charged.

Candidate must arrange their own transport and accommodation.

What will I get upon course completion?

On completion of the Online Theory and the 5 Day Lab you would have completed the Rough Diamond Evaluation Qualification and receive a Certificate from Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Training School.

What if I want a refund?

Cancellation must be done in writing 14 working days prior to the start date of the course. If not Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Training School will charge for the full course.
