The Harry Oppenheimer Diamond Training School is a globally recognized institution, established in 1990 to provide specialized, high-quality education in diamond manufacturing, evaluation, and grading. Named in honor of diamond industry icon Harry Oppenheimer, we uphold a legacy of excellence, integrity, and innovation. As a certified, non-profit organization, we offer a wide range of courses. All our courses are led by experienced industry professionals. We are located in Johannesburg and welcome students worldwide.

Our courses are designed to provide immersive, hands-on learning experiences. Each student works directly with real diamonds and gemstones, practicing evaluation, grading, and polishing techniques under the guidance of seasoned professionals.

Rough Diamond Evaluation
This course provides a practical introduction to the diamond industry, from understanding rough diamond evaluation and planning to diamond polishing basics.Â
Diamond Polishing
Learners are provided with natural diamonds and the necessary tools and equipment to polish these diamonds to perfection in a factory environment.Â
Diamonds and Diamond Grading
This course has two components, where students are taught the background of Diamonds and Diamond grading from formation through to the pricing of a polished diamond.Â
Essentials for
Coloured Stones
To give the student background knowledge and understanding of the most popular 18 gemstones, their properties, common simulants and synthetics.
Essentials for Rough Diamond Evaluation
Students are taught to understand the characteristics and estimate the Clarity, Cut, Colour and Carat- Weight of a rough diamond.
Entrepreneurial Valuation & Polishing Course
This course is ideal for business professionals who want to quickly gain practical knowledge of rough diamond valuation and polishing, without committing to longer programmes.
